Namibia relaxes Covid Regulations - as announced on 14 September 2021

Since new infection rates have decreased in the last few weeks, the Namibian Government has announced a further relaxation in the Covid regulations. From 14 September 2021 up to the 15 October 2021 the following will apply:

• Public Gatherings: adjusted to 150 persons per event. Spectators at sporting events is also permitted up to 150 spectators per event.
• Curfew: extended to begin from 23:00 to 04:00 daily
• Restrictions related to liquor: relaxed mid-way during the dispensation to facilitate increased business activity. Measures related to the sale of liquor remains per amendment of 06th September 2021.
• Where a seller is a holder of an off-sale license, sales may take place from 09:00 – 22:00, Mon – Fri and from 09:00 – 13:00 on Saturdays
• Where the seller is a holder of an on-consumption license  (such as Bars, Shebeens, Casinos, Gambling and Betting houses) the sale of alcohol may take place from 09:00 – 22:00, Mon – Sat. No Sale of alcohol on Sundays and Public Holidays.
• Where a seller is a holder of an on-consumption license (such as Hotels, Restaurants and Accommodation establishments) the sale of liquor served with meals, permitted from 09:00 until 22:00, Sunday to Sunday
• Burials succumbed to Covid-19 or whose death are Covid-19 related must continue to take place with a period of ten days (10) and all  meals must continue to be served on take-away basis. Restriction of number of persons attending public gatherings capped at 150 persons per gathering applies to mourners only, excluding essential workers.

Important changes for travellers:
As per current regulations, persons wishing to enter Namibia need to present a negative PCR Test, which is not older than 7 days at the time of arrival in Namibia. This has changed from the the previously valid max. three days validity at the time of arrival.
Please note, that the PCR Test is required irrespective if a travel is already fully vaccinated or not. Full vaccination or confirmed recovery from a Covid infection does not exempt persons wishing to enter Namibia from the PCR Test requirement.
