  • All arriving travellers must present a negative COVID-19 certificate obtained within 72 hours of travel (meaning within 72 hours before arriving in Botswana).
  • Travellers will then be screened for COVID-19 and take a Rapid Test at the border post. Results can take up to 1 hour, dependent on the number of travellers being tested. There is no cost.
** Please note that travellers are expected to queue behind truck drivers at the borders, so testing and results can take longer. Tourists are not given priority.
  • Symptomatic travellers will be subject to mandatory testing on arrival and possible isolation/ quarantine for a minimum of 14 days, or until they test negative
  • Isolation will be at the traveller's own expense.
  • When departing from Botswana, travellers must present a PCR negative test result no older than 72 hours.
  • The PCR Test costs US$100 per test. The results will be available between 6 - 24 hours.
  • Travellers are strongly urged to allow for 24 hours and therefore have the test the day before the result is required.
  • The wearing of face masks is mandatory.
Travellers transferring between Zimbabwe and Botswana must leave the transfer vehicle at the border of arrival and walk with their luggage between the border posts.

The River border between Botswana and Namibia (Impalila) is open.
